Today I am joined by students who want to know insights on starting your own comedy show, how to get started when you are an introvert, getting spots on booked shows and writing for others.
These are all great questions! I figured if they were wondering about something chances are you may be, too.
When it comes to starting your own comedy show there are many things to consider. Is the location a good fit? Do they have a night available? Are they willing to help you promote? Will their be a budget? Do you charge for tickets? Do you pay the comics? Can you put together a solid show? Many more variables come into play than just flipping on a mic switch. If you are an introvert who do you host a show? Can you step outside of your comfort zone and interact with the venue manager? The comics? The Audience? We haven’t discussed that much on the show and today we dig into it a little bit.
Do you want to do spots on booked shows? You need to attend the shows first. Support the shows you want to support you. This set is often missed and will make it hard for you to be invited. Still, you want to be persistent without being pesky. We talk about the best approaches and tactics.
